The route: from Königsplatz to the Isartor

The 10 stops cover about 4.5 km, roughly 55 minutes of walking. You can start elsewhere or change the order in the app, with Google Maps guiding you. No entry tickets are needed: every riddle uses the outside of the buildings.

Why explore Munich with a city game
This route takes you through royal and everyday Munich. Königsplatz shows the neoclassical taste of King Ludwig I, Odeonsplatz is framed by the Feldherrnhalle and the yellow Theatine Church, and Max-Joseph-Platz is home to the National Theatre and the Residenz. The twin onion-domed towers of the Frauenkirche, the New Town Hall on Marienplatz and the richly decorated Asam Church lead you to the Viktualienmarkt, the city’s best-known food market.
A game makes you look closely at statues, gates and façades you would otherwise pass, and the stories explain what you just saw. Everyone plays on their own phone, there is no schedule, and you can stop for a pretzel whenever you like.
- Start in the morning: Marienplatz and the pedestrian streets get crowded from late morning, especially on Saturdays.
- Start the escape game in daylight; its puzzles rely on façade details.
- Bring a charged phone, a power bank and comfortable shoes for the 4.5 km route.
- End with lunch at the Viktualienmarkt near the finish, or a visit inside the Frauenkirche or the Residenz.
