Yes, Malaga is an easy cruise stop for a city game. Large ships dock at the Levante cruise terminals, about 2 km from the centre; smaller ones berth at the Palmeral de las Sorpresas terminal by the old town. Take the port shuttle to Plaza de la Marina (about 10 minutes), then walk about 10 minutes past the Roman Theatre to Plaza de la Merced, where our scavenger hunt starts. The 2-hour game ends on the port promenade, on your way to the ship.

Tips for Malaga when time is short
- If your ship is at the Levante terminals, the shuttle to Plaza de la Marina saves you about 20 minutes of walking in the heat; the walk back along Muelle Uno is flat and pleasant.
- The game ends at the Palmeral de las Sorpresas on the waterfront, so you are already on the walking route back to the ship.
- The summer heat is strong: bring water, sunscreen and a hat, and consider a taxi back in the afternoon.
- Keep an eye on your bag around Calle Larios and the Cathedral, where pickpockets work the crowds.
- Hand luggage is checked when you re-enter the terminal, so allow a few extra minutes and keep at least an hour in hand before all-aboard time.
- There is no fixed start time and no guide to keep up with: if it gets hot, pause in the shade and carry on when you are ready.
Why a self-guided game works on a port day
- You start when you step off the ship, not at a fixed tour time, and nobody waits for a group.
- Everyone in your party can follow on their own phone with one booking reference.
- You can stop for lunch or a swim and carry on later, and end the game whenever you need to head back.
- Google Maps guides you from stop to stop, and the game needs no entry tickets.
Malaga cruise stop: questions
Can you walk from Malaga cruise port to the city centre?
Yes. From the main Levante terminals the centre is about 2 km, roughly 15-20 minutes along the flat port promenade; smaller ships at the Palmeral terminal dock right by the old town.
Is there a shuttle bus from Malaga cruise port?
Yes, a shuttle bus runs from the cruise terminal to Plaza de la Marina in the city centre, about 10 minutes' walk from the start of our hunt.
Which terminal will my ship use in Malaga?
Large ships use the Levante terminals, which have 4 berths; the Palmeral de las Sorpresas terminal on Muelle 2 takes one smaller ship of up to about 200 m.
Where does the Malaga scavenger hunt start and finish?
It starts on Plaza de la Merced, about 10 minutes' walk from Plaza de la Marina, and finishes at the Palmeral de las Sorpresas on the port promenade, between the old town and the cruise terminals.
Do I need to book a time slot?
No. You book online, receive your booking reference by email straight away and start whenever you are ashore. The ticket has no time limit, so it still works if your ship arrives late or your plans change.
What do we need on the day?
A charged smartphone with mobile data, the World City Trail app from the App Store or Google Play, and your booking reference. A power bank helps on a long port day.
