From Gaženica to Zadar's old town

  1. Large ships berth at the Gaženica passenger terminal. If your cruise line offers a shuttle bus, it takes about 10-20 minutes to the tip of the old town peninsula near the Sea Organ.
  2. Taxis take about 10-15 minutes and drop you at the edge of the car-free peninsula.
  3. Liburnija city buses also stop at the port and take about 20-30 minutes. Routes into the old town can involve a change, so ask at the terminal which bus to take.
  4. Walking from Gaženica is not recommended: it is about 4 km along busy roads with little to see. Smaller ships berth at the Old City port on the peninsula itself, about 5 minutes on foot from the old town.

Tips for Zadar when time is short

  • Big ships berth at Gaženica, about 4 km from the old town: too far to walk pleasantly, so use the ship shuttle, a city bus or a taxi.
  • Whether there is a shuttle depends on your cruise line, so check on board before you go ashore.
  • The Gaženica terminal has little to see, so head into town straight away.
  • The old town peninsula is car-free and flat, which makes it easy to see a lot in a short time.
  • Work back from all-aboard time and allow a buffer for the drive back to Gaženica.
  • Load the city guides on board: they work offline, so you can find lunch and the next sight in the old town without mobile data.

Why take our city guides ashore

  • They work offline, so you don’t need mobile data or roaming in port.
  • Six guides in one: where to eat, what to see, what to do with kids, going out, day trips and saving money.
  • A short list of places worth your limited time, with a tip for each one.
  • Buy before you sail and open them on your phone as soon as you step ashore.
