See the guide in action

A short look at a real guide: ticking places off, filtering and opening Maps.

The Antibes City Guides answer the questions every trip here throws up: when to catch the covered market and where to try socca, which old-town table is worth booking, how to reach the coast path on the Cap without a car, which sandy beaches stay shallow for toddlers and where to drink after dark, in the old town or across the cape in Juan-les-Pins. Each guide is a short, honest list that tells you why a place earns its spot, what to order or look at and one practical tip, and it opens in your browser the moment you have paid.

The five Antibes guides

Food guide

23 places

Socca and cheese around the covered market, bistros in the lanes behind the ramparts, starred restaurants by the water on the Cap and in Juan, then pastries, gelato and coffee.

Things to do guide

22 places

Picasso in the Grimaldi castle, forts and sea walls, the superyachts of Port Vauban, the Cap d’Antibes coast path and the sand of Juan-les-Pins.

Family guide

24 places

Sandy beaches with shallow water, a petting farm, a little tourist train to Juan, a big town pool, museums for rainy days, crêpes and ice cream.

Nightlife guide

22 places

Pubs and a cellar absinthe bar in the old town, natural wine and beer brewed in town, rum bars and jazz in Juan-les-Pins, sunset spots and late food.

Day trips guide

20 places

The sand of Antibes and the Cap, Cannes and the Lérins islands, Nice, Villefranche, Monaco and Menton by train, and the glass, art and perfume villages inland.

Three places from the guides

Brulot

3 Rue Frédéric Isnard, behind the market

Everything here revolves around the wood-fired oven in a vaulted dining room: lamb chops, duck and steaks come off the flames, and the socca bakes in the same heat. Mains run about €20 to €28, and cards are not accepted, so bring cash. From the food guide.

Le Nomade

Bastion Saint-Jaume, Quai Henri Rambaud

A huge seated figure by Jaume Plensa, made of white steel letters, gazes out to sea from an old bastion at the harbour entrance. Walk right inside it, then take the photo every visitor to Antibes takes. It costs nothing. From the things to do guide.

Plage du Ponteil

Route de Grasse, 10 min walk south of the old town

Fine sand and water that stays shallow a long way out make this the easiest beach in town for toddlers, with the old walls in view. Showers, toilets and kayak or pedalo hire are right beside it, and there is a large car park. From the family guide.

Plan your days in Antibes

Day one: shop the covered market before it packs up, see the Picasso museum while it is open in the morning (the city museums close on Monday and over lunch), then walk the sea ramparts to Le Nomade and round Port Vauban, and end with dinner and a glass of wine in the old town. Day two: ride bus 2 down the Cap d’Antibes, walk the coast path, climb to the Garoupe chapel and lighthouse and swim at Garoupe beach, then cross to Juan-les-Pins for a sunset drink and a rum bar with a band. For a rainy or slow day, pair the Peynet cartoon museum and the postcard museum with the indoor pools of the Stade Nautique, or take the train to Cannes, Nice or the aquarium museum in Monaco.
