The Lefkada City Guides deal with the questions this long, mountainous island raises: which coast to swim on when the wind gets up, how to see Porto Katsiki and Egremni without the midday crush, where to eat Eglouvi lentils in a mountain village and where the night carries on in Lefkada town and Nidri. Each guide is a short list with an opinion: why a place earns its spot, what to order or look out for, and one practical tip. It opens in your browser the moment you have paid.

Family guide
24 places
Shallow bays on the east and south coasts for little ones, waterfalls, boats, a fortress and horses, ideas for rainy days and tavernas where children are welcome.
Nightlife guide
25 places
Cocktail bars in the lanes of Lefkada town, a rock bar and dance nights in Nidri, west-coast sunset spots, Agios Nikitas and Vasiliki, and late food to end on.
Day trips guide
23 places
Beaches you can reach by bus, Egremni and Porto Katsiki without the crowds, Cape Lefkatas, mountain villages, and boats to Meganisi, Kefalonia and the mainland.

Three places from the guides
Pantazis Tavern
Nikiana harbour, north of Nidri
Your table sits on a little beach beside the fishing boats, close enough for the waves to reach your feet. Make a meal of the starters, fried peppers, beetroot salad and oyster mushrooms, then share a whole grilled fish or lamb cutlets; with wine, budget €25 to €35 each. From the food guide.
Milos Hidden Beach
Over the headland from Agios Nikitas
No road comes down to this long stretch of sand and pebbles, which is why there is still room when the drive-in beaches are packed. Hop on the taxi boat from Agios Nikitas, or walk over the hill past the old windmill in about 20 minutes. From the things to do guide.
Cape Lefkatas Lighthouse
Southern tip, beyond Porto Katsiki
The island ends at a white cliff with a lighthouse, where Sappho is said to have leapt into the sea and a temple of Apollo once stood. There is nothing to buy, just wind, a sheer drop and Kefalonia and Ithaca on the horizon. From the beaches and day trips guide.
Plan your days on Lefkada
Day one: start in Lefkada town at the Church of Saint Minas and the Agia Mavra fortress, walk or cycle the flat lagoon road out to the Gyra windmills for sunset, then pick a cocktail bar in the old lanes from the nightlife guide. Day two: check the wave forecast, drive the west coast early and take the steps down to Egremni or Porto Katsiki before the car parks fill, then carry on to Cape Lefkatas and finish with dinner in Vasiliki. For a windy or slow day, switch to the calm east side: the Nidri waterfall, a boat to Meganisi and Papanikolis Cave, the folklore museum in Karya and a long lunch under the plane trees on its square.
