The León City Guides answer the questions every visitor has: which Barrio Húmedo bars hand out the best free tapa, when to see the cathedral’s stained glass without the coach groups, which museums cost next to nothing and how to reach Astorga or Las Médulas in a day. Each guide is a short, opinionated list that gives you the reason to go, what to order or look for and one practical tip per place, and it opens in your browser as soon as you pay.

Three places from the guides
Restaurante Bodega Regia
Calle Regidores, by the cathedral
A family dining room since the 1940s, with tables down in an old cellar and a menu that reads like a list of León classics: garlic soup, lentils with torrezno, lamb carved beside you and chestnut tart. From the food guide.
Plaza del Grano
Barrio Húmedo, south end
The old grain market square, paved with uneven river stones and framed by timbered houses, with a fountain whose two cherubs stand for León’s two rivers. Few corners of the old town feel older. From the things to do guide.
Mirador de Orellán
Las Médulas, about 25 min by car from Ponferrada
A lookout over the largest gold mine of the Roman world, where whole hillsides were washed away and red pinnacles now rise out of chestnut woods. A short tunnel walk ends on a balcony above it all. From the day trips guide.
Plan your days in León
Day one: the cathedral at opening time, San Isidoro before lunch, a menú del día at 14:00, then the free museums and the Roman wall in the evening light, and a tapa crawl around Plaza San Martín to end it. Day two: San Marcos and MUSAC by the river, a slow walk along the Paseo de Papalaguinda and vermouth in the Barrio Romántico at night. For a grey or slow day, take the train to Astorga and its chocolate museum, spend an hour in the Museo de León and settle into a long lunch in a classic dining room.
