The Logroño City Guides answer what every visitor to La Rioja wants to know: which bar on Calle Laurel does which dish best, which wineries you can reach on foot or by train, where children can run around and how to eat and drink well for very little. Each guide is a short, opinionated list with the reason to go, what to order or look for and one practical tip for every place, and it opens in your browser the minute you pay.

Three places from the guides
Restaurante Ikaro
Avenida de Portugal 3, near the Espolón
A Michelin star for two chefs who blend Riojan produce with Ecuadorian roots. Expect tasting menus with paired wines and careful service, and look at the lunch menu, which is fair value for a starred kitchen. From the food guide.
Church of San Bartolomé
Calle San Bartolomé 2
The finest stonework in the city: a Gothic doorway that tells the life and martyrdom of St Bartholomew, crowned by a brick Mudéjar tower, with two 14th-century noble tombs inside. Entry is free and a visit takes a quarter of an hour. From the things to do guide.
Monastery of San Millán de Yuso
San Millán de la Cogolla, 45 min by car
The UNESCO-listed monastery called the cradle of the Spanish language, with a sacristy under painted ceilings and a library of enormous choir books. Visits are guided and in Spanish, but the rooms alone justify the trip. From the day trips guide.
Plan your days in Logroño
Day one: see the free churches and the Museo de La Rioja in the morning, cross the Puente de Piedra where the Camino arrives, join the evening paseo on the Espolón and then work your way along Calle Laurel, one pincho and one glass per bar. Day two: take the train to Haro for the station wineries or the bus to hilltop Laguardia, and come back for the wine bars of Calle San Juan. For a rainy or slow day, the Museo Würth, the old cellar of the Calado de San Gregorio and a long menú del día lunch are all you need.
