The Monemvasia City Guides answer what every visitor here wonders about: where to leave the car and how to get across to the Kastro, when to climb to Agia Sophia without baking on the bare rock, how a fish priced by the kilo turns into a bill, and which beach is worth the drive. Each guide is a short, honest list that says why a place earns your time, what to order or look for and one practical tip, and it opens in your browser the moment you have paid.

Three places from the guides
Marmíta
Gefyra, harbour road (Malvazia 8)
The chef-owner cooks only two or three home-style dishes a day, such as moussaka, bean soup or roast chicken with chips. Plates are generous at around €10 to €12, and this is where Gefyra itself comes for lunch. From the food guide.
Holy Church of Agia Sophia
Kastro, upper town, at the cliff edge
Built in the 12th century right on the lip of the cliff, it is the one building on the summit that still stands complete. Look at the frescoes inside, then peer over the wall at the sheer fall to the sea. From the things to do guide.
Simos beach
Elafonisos island, about 1 hr by car to Pounta plus a 10-min ferry
Two bays of white sand sit back to back here, with pale turquoise water that many rate the best in the Peloponnese. The right-hand bay stays shallow for small children, and a set of loungers runs about €30 in summer. From the beaches and day trips guide.
Plan your days in Monemvasia
Day one: walk the causeway from Gefyra early, climb straight up to the upper town and Agia Sophia while it is still cool, then come down for a swim through the Portello in the sea wall and lunch inside the Kastro. Wander out to the lighthouse in the afternoon and stay on for the evening, when the day visitors have gone. Day two: drive to Pounta and take the ferry to Simos beach on Elafonisos before the queue builds, or head north to Gerakas for a swim off the quay and fish by the water, and finish with grilled fish on the Gefyra harbour road. For a rainy or slow day, join a tour of Kastania Cave, taste Malvasia at the Tsimbidi winery, or give a whole day to Mystras and the olive museum in Sparti, with pastries from Charamis when you get back.
