World City Trail for Schools

Turn Your Next School Trip Into a Living Classroom

A self-guided city scavenger hunt designed for students aged 12+. Available in 167 cities and 10+ languages. Discounted school pricing.

A Field Trip Your Students Will Actually Remember

Every teacher who has ever organised a city trip knows the look — eyes glazing over forty minutes into a guided tour. We built something different.

World City Trail is a smartphone-led outdoor scavenger hunt that turns a city’s landmarks into a series of puzzles. Students explore in small teams of 3–5, solving location-based riddles, while teachers supervise from nearby. No bus tours. No “stay behind the umbrella.” Just curious students leading their own discovery of a city.

Six Real Skills Your Students Will Practise

Each puzzle is designed to build one or more of these — without anyone ever calling it a lesson.

🔍 Observation — Students learn to look — really look — at architecture, signage, and details most adults walk past.
🧩 Logical Reasoning — Each riddle requires deductive thinking from observable evidence to a correct answer.
⚙️ Combinatorial Thinking — Many puzzles require combining two or more clues to unlock the next stop. Foundational for maths and analytical subjects.
💡 Imagination & Lateral Thinking — Some clues need a creative leap — a metaphor, a wordplay, a “what if it means…?”
🤝 Teamwork & Cooperation — Teams of 3–5 only succeed by sharing ideas, listening, and combining strengths.
🗣️ Communication & Decision-Making — When teams disagree, they have to explain, defend, and reach consensus together.

FAQ

Is World City Trail safe for school groups?

Yes. Trails run through central, pedestrian-friendly streets in well-trafficked tourist areas of each city. We avoid heavy-traffic roads and isolated zones. Teachers can position themselves at central waypoints for full oversight.

What age group is best?

Ages 12 and up. The puzzles align with cognitive and reading skills that develop around middle school age, and the team-based format suits adolescents particularly well.

How long does a trail take?

2–3 hours of trail time, covering 3–5 km of central city walking. Most schools build in a lunch break partway through.

Can the trail be done in a foreign language?

Yes — trails are available in 10+ languages. This makes them excellent for language immersion as part of a study trip.

Do teachers need to lead the activity?

No. The app guides each student team through the trail. Teachers supervise rather than lead.

How is the activity priced for schools?

We offer discounted per-student rates significantly below our public pricing. Contact us through the form below for a group quote.

Can we book on invoice?

Yes — we issue invoices for school bookings.

What happens if it rains?
