Yes, you can play our Charleston game on a cruise stop if you go straight there. Since July 2026 ships dock at Columbus Street Terminal, a cargo terminal in an industrial area, so walking into town is not practical. A taxi, rideshare or cruise-line transfer takes about 5-10 minutes to The Charleston Museum on Meeting Street, where the hunt starts. The hunt takes about 3 hours, covers 3 km on flat ground and ends at Waterfront Park. Verdict: it fits if you start early.

Price range: 5.99 € through 23.99 €From Columbus Street Terminal to The Charleston Museum
- Check your berth in your cruise documents. Since July 2026 visiting ships use Columbus Street Terminal; guides written before mid-2026 describe the old Union Pier terminal next to the City Market and are out of date.
- From the terminal, take a taxi or rideshare to The Charleston Museum at 360 Meeting Street, about 5-10 minutes. The terminal is surrounded by rail tracks and major roads, so do not try to walk.
- If your cruise line arranges a transfer into the historic district, it also takes about 5-10 minutes. Check where it drops you and when the last one returns to the ship.
- The museum stands opposite the Visitor Center at 375 Meeting Street. Once downtown, the free CARTA DASH buses link the Visitor Center with the City Market, Waterfront Park, King Street and Broad Street; route 213 (Purple) stops at the museum, the City Market and Waterfront Park.

Tips for Charleston when time is short
- Walking between Columbus Street Terminal and town is not practical, so plan a taxi, rideshare or transfer for both directions before you leave the ship.
- The free CARTA DASH buses save time if you fall behind, for example between the City Market and Waterfront Park.
- The peninsula is flat, so the 3 km route is easy walking, but summer heat and humidity are strong; carry water.
- The hunt ends at Waterfront Park, so arrange your ride back to the ship from there and leave a good margin before all-aboard time.
- With about 3 hours for the hunt plus the transfers, start soon after going ashore; on a short port day the 2-hour escape game or audio tour is the easier fit.
Why a self-guided game works on a port day
- You start when you step off the ship, not at a fixed tour time, and nobody waits for a group.
- Everyone in your party can follow on their own phone with one booking reference.
- You can stop for lunch or a swim and carry on later, and end the game whenever you need to head back.
- Google Maps guides you from stop to stop, and the game needs no entry tickets.
Charleston cruise stop: questions
Where do cruise ships dock in Charleston now?
At the Columbus Street Terminal, a cargo terminal farther up the peninsula. Union Pier, the former cruise terminal next to downtown, handled its last cruise call on 30 June 2026.
Can I walk from the cruise ship to the historic district?
Not practically. The terminal is surrounded by rail tracks and major roads; the historic district is about 5-10 minutes away by taxi, rideshare or shuttle.
Is there free transport in downtown Charleston?
Yes. CARTA's DASH buses are free and connect the Visitor Center, City Market, Waterfront Park, King Street and other parts of the historic peninsula.
Is there enough time for the hunt on a Charleston cruise stop?
Yes, if you go straight there. Allow about 3 hours for the hunt plus about 5-10 minutes by taxi each way, and be back at least 1 hour before all-aboard time.
Do I need to book a time slot?
No. You book online, receive your booking reference by email straight away and start whenever you are ashore. The ticket has no time limit, so it still works if your ship arrives late or your plans change.
What do we need on the day?
A charged smartphone with mobile data, the World City Trail app from the App Store or Google Play, and your booking reference. A power bank helps on a long port day.
Port and transport details checked in November 2026. Docking positions and timetables change, so always check your ship’s all-aboard time and your cruise line’s port information before you set off.
