Yes, Palermo is one of the easier cruise stops for our game. Ships dock at the Palermo Cruise Terminal on Via Francesco Crispi, on the edge of the centre. From there a flat walk of about 25-30 minutes, or a taxi of 10-15 minutes, takes you to the start at the Royal Palace (Norman Palace). The hunt takes about 2 hours and ends at Teatro Massimo, roughly 1 km from the port. It fits comfortably into a normal port day.

Price range: 4.99 € through 19.99 €From the cruise terminal to the Norman Palace
- Leave the port gates onto Via Francesco Crispi. Ships use the cruise terminal on Molo Vittorio Veneto or the rebuilt Molo Santa Lucia next to the hydrofoil terminal; both are on the edge of the city centre.
- Walk along the seafront to Piazza Marina and Porta Felice, the old sea gate at the bottom of Corso Vittorio Emanuele.
- Go straight up Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the old Cassaro, for about 1.5 km, past Quattro Canti and the Cathedral, to the Royal Palace (Palazzo dei Normanni) at the far end. The whole walk is flat and takes about 25-30 minutes.
- Prefer to ride? Taxis take about 10-15 minutes to Piazza Indipendenza by the palace, depending on traffic. In Palermo's heavy traffic, walking is often just as quick.

Tips for Palermo when time is short
- Quattro Canti gets strong overhead sun at midday in summer, so bring water, sunscreen and a hat.
- Some churches on the route ask for covered shoulders and knees; a light scarf in your bag solves it.
- Palermo traffic is heavy, and for short distances walking is often faster than a taxi.
- The finish at Teatro Massimo is only about 15 minutes' walk from the port, so the return is easy even if you linger in the centre.
- Your ticket has no time limit: start when you like, pause for lunch and pick up where you left off.
- If you want a fixed point to turn back from, Teatro Massimo is it: from there count 15 minutes to the ship plus your safety margin.
Why a self-guided game works on a port day
- You start when you step off the ship, not at a fixed tour time, and nobody waits for a group.
- Everyone in your party can follow on their own phone with one booking reference.
- You can stop for lunch or a swim and carry on later, and end the game whenever you need to head back.
- Google Maps guides you from stop to stop, and the game needs no entry tickets.
Palermo cruise stop: questions
Can I walk from the Palermo cruise terminal to the historic centre?
Yes. The terminal on Via Francesco Crispi is about 500 m from the edge of the historic centre, and the walk is flat.
How far is the Norman Palace from the cruise port?
About 25-30 minutes on foot along the seafront to Porta Felice and then straight up Corso Vittorio Emanuele, or about 10-15 minutes by taxi.
How far is Teatro Massimo from the port?
Roughly 1 km: cross Via Crispi, walk Via Emerico Amari to Piazza Politeama (about 700 m) and continue along Via Ruggero Settimo to Piazza Verdi, about 15 minutes in all.
Is a Palermo port day long enough for the scavenger hunt?
Yes. Allow about half an hour to the start, about 2 hours for the hunt and about 15 minutes back from Teatro Massimo, and still keep at least an hour before all-aboard time.
Do I need to book a time slot?
No. You book online, receive your booking reference by email straight away and start whenever you are ashore. The ticket has no time limit, so it still works if your ship arrives late or your plans change.
What do we need on the day?
A charged smartphone with mobile data, the World City Trail app from the App Store or Google Play, and your booking reference. A power bank helps on a long port day.
