Seville on a cruise stop: a self-guided city game from the river

Yes, Seville is one of the easiest ports for it. Small and medium ocean ships sail up the Guadalquivir and berth at Muelle de las Delicias, about 1.5 km from the centre. Walk about 15 minutes along the river past the Torre del Oro to the Hispalis Fountain at Puerta de Jerez, where the hunt starts. It takes about 3 hours and ends at Plaza de España, close to the quay: an easy fit for a normal port day.

From Muelle de las Delicias to the Hispalis Fountain

  1. Leave the ship at Muelle de las Delicias and walk north along the riverside promenade, the Paseo de las Delicias. The Torre del Oro is about 10 minutes away.
  2. Just inland from the Torre del Oro, the Hispalis Fountain stands on the Puerta de Jerez roundabout, about 15 minutes from the ship. Open the app there and start the hunt.
  3. Prefer to ride? Taxis wait at the port and reach the centre in about 10 minutes, and rideshare apps also operate. City buses from Avenida de las Delicias or Avenida de Jerez run towards Puerta de Jerez in about 10-15 minutes.
  4. A new cruise terminal at Muelle de Tablada opened in April 2026 and calls are planned to move there, so check which quay your ship uses. On a river cruise, ask the crew where your boat moors.

Tips for Seville when time is short

  • The route is flat, but Seville is very hot from June to September, often above 38 C: start early, carry water and use the shade of María Luisa Park.
  • The hunt finishes in María Luisa Park, which borders the Delicias riverside where ships berth, so the walk back is short.
  • Megaships cannot sail up the river and call at Cádiz instead; this plan is for ships that berth in Seville itself.
  • Lunch starts late in Seville, so it is easy to play first and eat near Plaza de España or in the old town afterwards.

Why a self-guided game works on a port day

  • You start when you step off the ship, not at a fixed tour time, and nobody waits for a group.
  • Everyone in your party can follow on their own phone with one booking reference.
  • You can stop for lunch or a swim and carry on later, and end the game whenever you need to head back.
  • Google Maps guides you from stop to stop, and the game needs no entry tickets.

Seville cruise stop: questions

Can big cruise ships dock in Seville?

No. Only small and medium ships can sail about 80 km up the Guadalquivir to Seville; larger ships call at Cádiz instead.

Is the old town walkable from the Seville cruise terminal?

Yes. From Muelle de las Delicias the Torre del Oro is about 10 minutes' walk along the river, and the cathedral is about 15-20 minutes on flat ground.

Is there a taxi from the cruise port?

Yes. Taxis are available at the port and reach the centre in about 10 minutes.

How far is Plaza de España from the Seville cruise port?

Close. Plaza de España is in María Luisa Park, which borders the Delicias riverside, and it is where the hunt ends, so you finish a short walk from the ship.

What will I see on the Seville hunt?

The route runs from the Hispalis Fountain past the Torre del Oro, the Plaza de Toros, Plaza del Cabildo, the cathedral, the Puerta del León and the Real Fábrica de Tabacos to Plaza de España and María Luisa Park. It takes about 3 hours, with about 49 minutes of walking.

Do I need to book a time slot?

No. You book online, receive your booking reference by email straight away and start whenever you are ashore. The ticket has no time limit, so it still works if your ship arrives late or your plans change.

What do we need on the day?

A charged smartphone with mobile data, the World City Trail app from the App Store or Google Play, and your booking reference. A power bank helps on a long port day.
