From the Moll de Balears to the Monument als Castellers

  1. Take the shuttle bus from the cruise terminal. It drops you on Avinguda Catalunya at the Camp de Mart, beside the old town, after about 10 minutes; the return shuttle leaves from the same spot.
  2. From the Camp de Mart, walk to the Rambla Nova, the city's main boulevard. The Monument als Castellers, a bronze human tower, stands on it: this is where the hunt starts. Look out for the stacked figures as you walk along the boulevard.
  3. Taxis wait at the terminal if you prefer: the 2 km ride to the centre takes about 10 minutes.
  4. Walking from the ship is possible, but it is about 2 km through the port area, so most passengers use the shuttle.

Tips for Tarragona when time is short

  • The old town climbs towards the Cathedral through narrow lanes and steps, so comfortable shoes help.
  • The shuttle drop-off at the Camp de Mart is also the pickup point back to the ship; check the last shuttle time before you set off.
  • The Balcó del Mediterrani, on the route at the end of the Rambla Nova, is a cliff-top viewpoint over the sea: a good spot for photos.
  • Summer days are hot, and the Rambla Nova and the Roman sites have little shade around midday; carry water.
  • The city tourist office is at C/ Major 39 in the old town, close to the Cathedral and the finish.

Why a self-guided game works on a port day

  • You start when you step off the ship, not at a fixed tour time, and nobody waits for a group.
  • Everyone in your party can follow on their own phone with one booking reference.
  • You can stop for lunch or a swim and carry on later, and end the game whenever you need to head back.
  • Google Maps guides you from stop to stop, and the game needs no entry tickets.

Tarragona cruise stop: questions

About 2 km. Ships berth at the Moll de Balears, and a shuttle bus takes around 10 minutes to the edge of the old town.

Where does the cruise shuttle stop in Tarragona?

On Avinguda Catalunya at the Camp de Mart, next to the old town. The return shuttle leaves from the same spot.

Do I need to book a time slot?

No. You book online, receive your booking reference by email straight away and start whenever you are ashore. The ticket has no time limit, so it still works if your ship arrives late or your plans change.

A charged smartphone with mobile data, the World City Trail app from the App Store or Google Play, and your booking reference. A power bank helps on a long port day.
