Yes, Valencia works well on a cruise stop, as long as you ride into town. Ships berth at the Port of Valencia cruise terminal, about 4-5 km from the historic centre, so walking in is not sensible. A taxi to Plaça de Bous, the bullring next to Estació del Nord where our scavenger hunt starts, takes about 20 minutes. The hunt takes about 2 hours and ends at Puente de las Flores over the Turia Gardens. Easy on a normal full port day.

- If your ship is at one of the outer piers, take the free shuttle inside the port to the terminal and port exit. Smaller ships berth close to the terminal itself.
- Quickest: take a taxi from the port exit and ask for the Plaza de Toros next to Estació del Nord. It takes about 20 minutes.
- Cruise-line shuttle buses, where offered, ride 15-25 minutes into town. The usual drop-off is Guadalaviar by the Serranos Towers; some lines use Plaza del Ayuntamiento, a few minutes' walk from the bullring. From Serranos, walk south through the old town, or simply start the game at a nearer stop: the app lets you choose where to begin.
- EMT city bus 4 runs from the port entrance to the historic centre in about 25-30 minutes; lines 30 and 95 also serve the port. Ride to the centre and walk to Plaza del Ayuntamiento and the bullring.
- At the bullring, open the World City Trail app, enter your booking reference and start the hunt.

Tips for Valencia when time is short
- The old town is about 4-5 km from the terminal, so plan on a shuttle, an EMT bus or a taxi rather than walking.
- Allow extra time to get back to the port, especially when several ships are in.
- Some old-town streets are cobbled: wear comfortable shoes.
- July and August are very hot: play early in the day and carry water. The Turia Gardens at the end of the hunt offer shade.
- The cruise terminal has restrooms, tourist information, shops and a restaurant, useful before you head into town.
Why a self-guided game works on a port day
- You start when you step off the ship, not at a fixed tour time, and nobody waits for a group.
- Everyone in your party can follow on their own phone with one booking reference.
- You can stop for lunch or a swim and carry on later, and end the game whenever you need to head back.
- Google Maps guides you from stop to stop, and the game needs no entry tickets.
Valencia cruise stop: questions
Can I walk from Valencia's cruise terminal to the old town?
Not realistically: the historic centre is about 4-5 km away. Use the shuttle, EMT bus line 4 or a taxi.
Where does the cruise shuttle drop off in Valencia?
The most common city stop for cruise buses is Guadalaviar, next to the Serranos Towers; some lines use Plaza del Ayuntamiento instead.
Which public bus goes from the Valencia cruise port to the centre?
EMT line 4 runs from the port entrance to the historic centre in about 25-30 minutes; lines 30 and 95 also serve the port.
How long does a taxi take from the port to the centre?
About 20 minutes, depending on traffic. Taxis wait at the port exit.
What will I see on the game in Valencia?
The route links the bullring, City Hall, the Central Market, La Lonja de la Seda, the Cathedral and Plaça de la Mare de Déu before ending at Puente de las Flores over the Turia Gardens.
Do I need to book a time slot?
No. You book online, receive your booking reference by email straight away and start whenever you are ashore. The ticket has no time limit, so it still works if your ship arrives late or your plans change.
What do we need on the day?
A charged smartphone with mobile data, the World City Trail app from the App Store or Google Play, and your booking reference. A power bank helps on a long port day.
