The route: from Henry’s Tower to St Vitus Cathedral

The Prague scavenger hunt starts at Henry’s Tower, a Gothic bell tower in the New Town, and continues to the Municipal House, the Church of Our Lady, the Spanish Synagogue, St Nicholas Church and the Astronomical Clock. From the Charles IV Monument you cross Charles Bridge to Malá Strana and the Holy Trinity Column, then climb to Prague Castle and St Vitus Cathedral.

The route covers about 4.6 km, roughly 53 minutes of walking, uphill at the end. You can start anywhere or change the order in the app, with Google Maps guiding you. No entry tickets are needed: every riddle uses the outside of the buildings.

Why explore Prague with a city game

Prague’s historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage site where Gothic, Baroque and Art Nouveau stand side by side. The Astronomical Clock has hung on the Old Town Hall since 1410, Charles Bridge was begun under Charles IV in 1357, and Prague Castle above the Vltava is one of the largest castle complexes in the world.

A game makes you look closely at statues, clock dials and façades you would otherwise pass by, and the stories that follow explain what you just saw. Everyone plays on their own phone, there is no schedule, and you can stop for a Czech beer in Malá Strana whenever you like.

  • Start early in the morning: Charles Bridge and the Astronomical Clock are much quieter before the crowds arrive.
  • Start the escape game in daylight; its puzzles rely on details of façades and statues.
  • Bring a charged phone, a power bank and comfortable shoes: most streets are cobbled and the climb to the castle is steep.
  • Finish inside St Vitus Cathedral or the castle, ticketed separately, or with a meal in Malá Strana.
