The route: from the Kapodistrias Statue to the Old Fortress

The Corfu scavenger hunt starts at the statue of Ioannis Kapodistrias and heads to Ionian Parliament Square. Through the old town you reach the Old Town Hall, the bell tower of the Annunziata Church, the Casa Parlante Museum and the Church of Saint Spyridon, then the Museum of Asian Art, the Liston and Spianada Square, finishing at the Old Fortress.

The 10 stops cover about 2.1 km, roughly 26 minutes of walking. You can start anywhere or change the order in the app, with Google Maps guiding you. No entry tickets are needed: every riddle uses the outside of the buildings.

Why explore Corfu with a city game

Corfu’s old town has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007, and every ruler left a mark: the Venetians built the Old Fortress, the French the arcaded Liston, the British the Palace of St Michael and St George that now houses the Museum of Asian Art. Ioannis Kapodistrias, the first governor of modern Greece, was born here.

A game helps you untangle those layers in the narrow kantounia lanes. Each riddle points you to a detail you would otherwise walk past, and the stories explain what you just saw. Everyone plays on their own phone, with no schedule.

  • Play in the morning or late afternoon: midday in summer is hot, and the old town is busiest when cruise passengers arrive.
  • Start the escape game in daylight; its puzzles rely on details on façades and monuments.
  • Bring water, a charged phone with a power bank and comfortable shoes for the smooth, slippery paving.
  • Finish with a visit inside the Old Fortress or a coffee under the arcades of the Liston.
