High above the Grand Harbour, the bells of Valletta have rung for centuries, but none are more mysterious than the "Siege Bell." Legend says that during the Great Siege of 1565, when the island seemed lost to the Ottoman fleet, a mysterious figure appeared on the walls of Fort St. Elmo. He fought with the strength of ten men and could not be touched by arrow or blade. When the victory was won, he vanished into the sea mist, leaving only a white cross carved into the stone. As you solve our riddles beneath the city's towering bastions, look closely at the walls; in Valletta, the stones remember the heroes who stood firm when the world was watching, and some say those heroes never truly left.
