The route: from the Prince’s Palace through the Old Town

Through the Saint-Martin Gardens you reach the Oceanographic Museum, then return via the Chapel of the Visitation to finish at a panoramic viewpoint over Monaco.
Expect about 24 minutes (2 km) of walking in total, all on the Rock of Monaco-Ville. You can start elsewhere or change the order in the app, with Google Maps guiding you. No entry tickets are needed: every riddle uses the outside of the buildings.

Why explore Monaco’s old town with a city game
Monaco-Ville sits on a rocky headland above the sea and has been the seat of the Grimaldi family since 1297. Princess Grace and Prince Rainier III are buried in the Cathedral, the Oceanographic Museum, founded by Prince Albert I, clings to the cliff edge, and the Saint-Martin Gardens look out along the coast.
A game makes you look closely at coats of arms, plaques and details you would otherwise walk past, and the stories explain what you have just seen. Everyone plays on their own phone, there is no schedule, and you can stop for barbagiuan, a local pastry, whenever you like.
- Start early or late in the day, before or after the day-trip crowds reach the palace square.
- Start the escape game in daylight; its puzzles rely on details on the outside of the buildings.
- Bring a charged phone, a power bank, water and comfortable shoes; the Rock is reached by steep ramps or lifts.
- Watch the changing of the guard at the palace, or visit the Oceanographic Museum inside after the game.
