The Halkidiki guides answer the questions every trip here raises: which peninsula to stay on, where to eat fish without a shock at the price per kilo, how to see Mount Athos when you cannot step ashore, which coves suit toddlers and where the evening starts once the beach bars switch their lights on. Each guide is a short, honest list that tells you why a place is worth the drive, what to order or look at and one practical tip, and it opens in your browser the moment you have paid.

Three places from the guides
To steki tou Meniou
Parthenonas, above Neos Marmaras, Sithonia
A winding road climbs to this restored stone village on the slopes of Mount Itamos, and from the terrace Neos Marmaras and the gulf lie far below you. Order grilled meat, local cheese and a village salad, with mains at roughly €9 to €15. From the food guide.
Monastery of Zygos (Frangokastro)
3 km south-east of Ouranoupoli
Walk among the walls and church foundations of a 10th-century monastery that sits right on the Athos border. It is as close as women can get to the monks’ land, and the fence is in plain view. Entry is about €4. From the things to do guide.
Thermal Spa Agia Paraskevi
Loutra, southern Kassandra
Sulphur water at 35°C fills indoor and outdoor pools on a clifftop above the sea, and it stays open all year. Around €8 gets you half an hour, or €15 an hour with the sauna, which makes it the answer to a grey day. From the beaches and day trips guide.
Plan your days in Halkidiki
Day one, Kassandra: start in Afytos with its stone lanes and folk museum, look at the Zeus Ammon temple on the shore at Kallithea before a swim, then have a sunset cocktail and grilled meat up in a village such as Kriopigi. Day two, Sithonia: reach Karydi or Kavourotrypes before 10:00, eat fish on the quay at Porto Koufo, spend the afternoon on the sand at Kalamitsi and finish with dinner in Nikiti’s old village. With a third day, drive to Ouranoupoli for the Mount Athos boat and the short ferry to Ammouliani. For a rainy or slow day, combine Petralona Cave, the mosaics of Olynthos and the warm sulphur pools at Agia Paraskevi.
