The Korčula City Guides answer the questions that come up on every visit to the island: how to order fish by the kilo without a shock when the bill arrives, which taxi boat takes you to the deer on Badija, where to taste Grk and Pošip with the families who grow them and how to get to Vela Luka and back on the island bus. Each guide is a short, honest list that tells you why a place deserves your time, what to order or look for and one practical tip, and it opens in your browser as soon as you have paid.

Three places from the guides
Konoba Belin
Žrnovo, 10 min by car from town
Dinner happens in a family courtyard in the very village that gave the island its hand-rolled pasta. You start with a welcome drink and courgette fritters, then meat and peka come off the wood fire, with mains roughly €18 to €30. From the food guide.
Kula Svih Svetih
Rampada, south-east corner of the walls
This round tower has guarded the east harbour since 1493 and still keeps its old cannons. The harbour view costs nothing, summer concerts make good use of its echo, and steps next to it take you down to rocks for a swim under the walls. From the things to do guide.
Vela Spila
Above Vela Luka, about 1 hour by bus
People sheltered in this enormous cave for some 20,000 years, and it gave up ceramic figurines counted among the oldest in Europe. A visit to the main chamber, with its digs and panels, takes under half an hour, and the bay below makes the climb worthwhile. From the beaches and day trips guide.
Plan your days in Korčula
Day one: walk the fishbone lanes of the old town early, before the day boats arrive, climb the staircase to the Land Gate, look into the Church of the All Saints and its icons, then go up the cathedral bell tower. Have dinner in a konoba like Marinero and, on a summer evening, watch the Moreška by the gate. Day two: take a taxi boat to Badija and Vrnik in the morning, swim at Vela Pržina in Lumbarda, then taste Grk at Popić and stay on for dinner at Zure. For a rainy or slow day, ride the island bus west to the Vela Spila cave above Vela Luka, walk among the mossy boulders of the Kočje forest near Žrnovo and finish with a peka at Konoba Belin, ordered the day before.
