The Kraków City Guides deal with the questions every visitor brings: where a proper lunch still costs a few euros, how to fit Wawel, the Rynek and Kazimierz into a short stay, which museum is free on which weekday and how to reach the salt mines or the Tatras without a tour. Each guide is a short list with a clear point of view, giving the reason to go, what to order or look for and one practical tip for every place. It opens in your browser the moment you pay.

Three places from the guides
Okrąglak
Plac Nowy 4B, Kazimierz
A round hall from 1900 in the middle of Plac Nowy, first used as a kosher slaughter market. Today its hatches serve zapiekanki, sausages and kebabs late into the night, and mornings bring a fruit and flea market to the square. From the food guide.
Collegium Maius
Jagiellońska 15, west Old Town
Poland’s oldest university building, where Copernicus was a student. Inside are early scientific instruments, a globe from 1510 that already shows America and a Gothic library, and the courtyard clock sends out its figures on odd hours. From the things to do guide.
Wieliczka Salt Mine (Daniłowicz Shaft)
Wieliczka, 25 minutes by train from Kraków Główny
Around 380 steps take you down into a mine worked since the 13th century, past chapels carved from salt to the vast Chapel of St Kinga. It stays at 14 °C all year, so it is the trip to save for a freezing day. Book a few days ahead. From the day trips guide.
Play the game, then open the guide
World City Trail’s Kraków scavenger hunt, escape game and audio tour lead you through the Old Town. The guides take over when the game is done: pierogi in Kazimierz, an evening in a jazz cellar, the train out to Wieliczka or a Tuesday spent in the free museums.
