The Side City Guides answer what every visitor here ends up asking: which sunset terraces deserve the bill and where locals eat pide for a fraction of the price, how to see the Roman town without a ticket, which beach between Kumköy and Sorgun suits small children, and how to reach Aspendos, the Green Canyon or Manavgat’s Monday market without a hotel rep’s package. Each guide is a short, honest list that says why a place is worth your time, what to order or look for and one practical tip, and it opens in your browser the moment you have paid.

Three places from the guides
Karadeniz Balıkçısı
Side Caddesi, 10 minutes’ walk from the old town
No frills and no sea view, just the day’s catch laid out on ice by the door and a dining room full of locals. Sea bass and the shrimp casserole cost far less than on the harbour, and tea with something sweet often comes on the house. From the food guide.
Devlet Agorası
Gül Sokak, east side of the old town
A wide Roman square ringed by columns and empty statue plinths, with the curve of the theatre behind it. There is no gate and no ticket, so come early or late when the harbour lanes are crowded and have it almost to yourself. From the things to do guide.
Altınbeşik Cave National Park
Ürünlü, İbradı; about 1 h 40 min north by car
A small boat carries you into one of Turkey’s largest caves, across a still underground lake. You see only the first stretch, but the cool air and the silence are a world away from the coach tours. From the beaches and day trips guide.
Plan your days in Side
Day one: enter old Side through the Vespasian gate, wander the State Agora and the theatre, cool off in the museum inside the Roman baths, swim at Nar Beach and end with a drink on the west shore at sunset. Day two: take the dolmuş to Manavgat for the market and the waterfall, or drive north to the Green Canyon boats, then eat pide on Side Bulvarı. For a slow or cloudy day, go west to the theatre at Aspendos and the colonnaded street of Perge, or picnic under the pines at Sorgun and finish with rakı and meze at a meyhane.
